Understanding your Invoice's Common Terms
 

DTH - (Dekatherm)
 

A unit of measure equal to the heating equivalent to 10 therms.

 

Therm
 

A unit of heat equivalent to 100,000 British Thermal Units (BTUs).

CCF
 

A measure of the quantity of gas that is one hundred cubic feet of gas or 100,000 BTUs.

Demand Charge
 

A monthly charge per tariff or contract and paid even if the customer doesn’t use any gas.

Billing Period
 

The time period during which you received services and for which you are being billed.

Basic Service Charge/Customer Charge

 

Represents the cost of metering, gas billing and other customer services. This charge may include the cost of a minimum amount of usage that is billed whether or not energy is used.

Usage

The amount of natural gas used. Meter usage is usually measured by cubic feet or therms.

Supply/Supplier Charges

 

Reflects the cost of natural gas supply. This is the deregulated portion of your bill that can be compared to offers from competitive suppliers (Price to Compare).
